1.Model LV1.
The plastic card model was introduced on 28 September 1993. These driving licences are issued for a maximum of 10 years irrespective of the categories.
2.Model LV2
. The plastic card model was introduced on 1 May 2004. These driving licences are issued for a maximum period of 10 years irrespective of the categories. National category M entitles a holder to drive mopeds (recorded on the licence since 1 July 2004). The entitlement to drive agricultural tractors is indicated on a separate document.
LV: Description and security features
Model LV1
Security features: Front: plastic coat contains the advantage seal of greenish colouring in the form of a coat of arms, seen at a definite angle and letters ‘LV’of yellow colour, seen only in the light of the ultraviolet lamp. Back: plastic coat contains the net of letters ‘LV’ of yellow colour, seen only in the light of the ultraviolet lamp.
Model LV2
Security features: Front: transparent KinegramR overlapping the photo and signature, ghost image, letters ‘LV’ visible only in the light of the ultraviolet lamp, Guilloche security print, microtext ‘VADITAJA APLIECIBA’, text ‘LATVIJAS REPUBLIKA’ in optical variable ink, altered front, digital watermark in the photo. Back: letters ‘LV’ in optical variable ink, net of letters ‘LV’ in Exian SecureTM ink.
